The fonds consists of the first issue of the Belfast Historical Society's newletter The Recaller, Autumn 1976 and a collection of readings from the first 25 years of The Recaller entitled "The Past is before us" as well as 24 audiotapes, release forms, and brief content notes for 22 interviews done under a project to create a community oral history archives, and a copy of the resultant volume Belfast people: an oral history of Belfast, Prince Edward Island, edited by Susan Hornby. Also included is the result of a project undertaken to document the history of twenty individual school districts in the Belfast area: Leap over time: history and recollections of one-room schools in the Belfast area, 1803-1968 by Eliza Gillia, Viola Gillis and Linda Jean Nicholson.

This fonds consists of a 135 page prescription book for numerous prescriptions such as: Itch, spitting blood, toothache, bronchitis, dysentery, diphtheria, constipation, chronic sore throat, acute rheumatism, chronic laryngitis, sore throat, croup, consumption, chronic inflammation, consumption, wasting of the lungs, hoarseness, epilepsy, cancer, loss of appetite, dropsy, Gonorrhea, fevers, hydrophobia (rabies), smallpox, drunkenness, intoxication, scurvy, goiter, earache, chronic diarrhea, lock jaw, cholera, sun stroke, boils, ulcerated womb, tumors, heart, chronic bronchitis, acute bronchitis, kidneys, sleepnessess, indigestion, whooping cough, chafing, liver complaint, scarlet fever, typhoid fever, corns and nails, hives, cataract, chapped lips and hands, diabetes, enlarged prostrate, vomiting in pregnancy, sea sickness, eruptions on face, chapped nipples, hysteria/mania, nasal polyps, wasted lungs, gall stones, pneumonia, bleeding of lungs, dandruff/baldness, ring worm, asthma, and the measles. The prescription book also contains instructions for washing flannels and a recipe for cottage pudding.

The fonds consists of reprinted articles or transcripts of primary documents concerning the history and genealogy of Georgetown, Prince Edward Island, the life and work of Reverend Donald MacDonald, stories of crime on Prince Edward Island, the diary of Benjamin Chappell, a letter of Edward Allen, Quakers in Prince Edward Island, and descriptions of miscellaneous incidents in PEI. The fonds also contains research concerning the temperance movement in Prince Edward Island, Charles Young and Mechanics' Institutes, as well as an autobiography of the donor's life.

The consists of photocopies of newspaper articles re. the death of Nelson's sisters Bertha and Daisy, a tourist guide to PEI circa 1923, as well as memorabilia of the South-African War. The photographs are from the Boer War and include images of some members of the Island contingent, Boer and British officers, and prisoner of war camps.

The collection consists of 34 portrait images comprised of 28 cabinet cards, 3 cartes-de-visites and 4 tintypes. There is also one death announcement card. Approximately half of the images are identified although identifications may be suspect in some cases. Those that are identified were residents of York in the nineteenth century. About half of the photographs were taken by C. Lewis or George H. Cook of Charlottetown, PEI.

The fonds consists of the release of 100 acres of land (not recorded in the registry books) in Lot 33 from Hannah West and her children, owners through probate of George West's will, to William Gill and a Massey Harris compendium of useful information 1892/93 used by William Gill as a notebook containing miscellaneous notes as well as genealogical information about the Abraham Gill family.

The fonds contains photocopies of four letters (and enclosures) from John to his mother and sister Gertrude from San Francisco and from the Philippines from 1899 to 1901. Letters contain descriptions of his geographical locations and living conditions, a record of his health, and references to friends and family members.

Indenture of apprenticeship : James Brawders to John Newson, cabinet-maker

This collection consists of an indenture of apprenticeship, an agreement made between James Brawders, 19, with the consent of his mother Ellen Brawders, and John Newson, cabinet-maker of Charlottetown. Brawders agrees to place himself in apprenticeship to John Newson for four years to learn the art or trade of a cabinet-maker, and to abide by a specific code of behaviour. Newson agrees to teach Brawders his trade and to pay him 25 pounds per year. Ellen Brawders agrees to provide board, lodging, clothing and medical care for James during the time of his apprenticeship. Both parties are bound by a bond of 20 pounds.
