The fonds consists of materials created by William Hawrelak between 1920 and 1976. The bulk of this collection consists of personal correspondence, newspaper clippings (some in Ukrainian), public relations material, legal contracts, and personal artifacts. Fifty photographs, originally found in the collection, have been removed and catalogued separately. The majority of the material in this collection was organized in annually labeled files in chronological order. Wherever possible, the original order of this collection was maintained. However, in some cases files with annual titles (e.g. 1940) were retitled according to content and class titles. It should be noted that while the title for this collection bears William Hawrelak's name, a large portion was produced by, or is related to the entire Hawrelak family. The early history in this collection contains material directly related to William Hawrelak's father, William Hawrelak senior. Mr. Hawrelak's wife, Pearl Porter, was also responsible for a large amount of the material generated in this collection. This fonds has been divided into the following Series or Classes: Class 1: Early Family History records; Class 2: Personal records; Class 3: Political and business records; Class 4: Porter Inquiry records; Class 5: Scrapbooks. In many cases it was not possible to separate personal, political and business records and these subjects may be found in various classes. MS 327.1: This fonds primarily consists of materials in Ukrainian, including folk song books, religious books, map of the Ukraine, and a Medal. This fonds also includes a copy of "Through the Years in the Province of Alberta" (1967).

Political papers consist of reports, correspondence, financial documents concerning Edmonton and the City of Strathcona between 1892 and 1935. Military papers include correspondence, clippings, programs, pamphlets and other materials related to Mr. Griesbach's military career and created between 1919 and ca.1943. Personal papers include correspondence, financial documents and other materials relating to Griesbach's personal life.

This fonds contains 4 scrapbooks related to Vincent Dantzer's career as a politician and his tenure as the mayor of the City of Edmonton. This fonds also includes gifts to Dantzer as mayor, notes on a visit to Japan, magazine articles dealing with civic politics in Edmonton, and other ephemera.

This is a fragment of the Alexander Cameron Rutherford fonds, consisting of correspondence relating to his activities as a candidate for the North-West Territories Legislature, service as Secretary-Treasurer of the Town of Strathcona, N.W.T., officer of the Strathcona Liberal Association and Premier of Alberta. Also included are documents relating to Alexander Cameron Rutherford and the Town of Strathcona, possibly acquired by Doug Babcock during his research for his biography, Alexander Cameron Rutherford: A gentleman of Strathcona, 1980.
