Naval Control Service Officer (Halifax, NS) fonds

Fonds consists of 8 volumes (volume 1 contains maps) documenting Canadian Naval Convoys during the Second World War. Each convoy description mentions the name and number of the convoy, the Ocean escorts, the people in charge of the convoy, the standard route, a list of all merchant vessels participating in the convoys with a mention of their cargo and destination, the day and time of the departure and arrival with the total distance, the average speed and all other important events.

Royal Canadian Naval Air Service fonds

Fonds consists of general correspondence pertaining to the creation and organization of air stations and bases in Nova Scotia, including construction and maintenance of buildings and roads at bases in Halifax and North Sydney. Correspondence also relates to air training procedures, pay and allowance, dress, housing, outside contracts, employment and discharge. Authorities involved in correspondence are Department of Naval Service, Department of Public Works, Provincial Highway Board of Nova Scotia and the Canadian Government Railway.

John Hughes-Hallett fonds

Fonds consist of papers dealing primarily with Operation "Jubilee," the allied raid on Dieppe. The collection was photocopied from the larger collection at the Imperial War Museum, London, but maintains the essential organization. This set of papers is particularly useful for the Naval operations at Dieppe. However, the after-action reports made by officers commanding landing craft and support ships provide a graphic account of conditions in the assault and on the landing beaches. Of particular interest for the general history of "Jubilee" are the Naval Force Commander's "Narrative" and his "Conclusions and Recommendations."

Fonds consists mostly of topographic maps, site plans and aerial (mosaic, oblique and vertical) photographs of Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) stations, Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) bases, radar and radio stations, Department of Transportation airfields in Canada, and Canadian bases overseas taken by the Joint Photographic Intelligence Centre (JPIC). Some files also include siting reports, interpretation reports, and terrain and site analyses. Arranged in alphabetical order by name.

Fonds consist primarily of press releases from Air Force Headquarters, Directorate of Public Relations, from 1939 to 1964 and Air Force Overseas Headquarters, Directorate of Public Relations, from 1941 to 1946. Some files include newspaper clippings along with the press releases.
The majority of volumes pertain to press releases during the Second World War. There are separate collections of press releases from Second World War Operations in South East Asia, Iceland, and the Middle East. The press releases after the Second World War deal primarily with events in Canada.

Max Morton Hendrick fonds

Fonds consists of material documenting Max Morton Hendrick's activities at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Electrical and Wireless School in Cranwell, England, at No. 3 Wireless School in Winnipeg, with 2nd Tactical Air Force, at Imperial Defence College, and as Chief of telecommunications. Includes quarterly reports, course notes, miscellaneous notes, syllabus and various other documents. Also includes a daily diary (1956-1964) and a photo album regarding North American Treaty Organization (NATO) military tour of the United States in 1961.

Military Intelligence 9 fonds

Fond consists of official interviews of Royal Canadian Air Force crews, and one newspaper clipping related to a testimony. The interviewees recount how they found themselves behind enemy lines, and in detail, their actions from their forced bail outs to the time when they were liberated. Some interviews describe journey's to Allied lines, while others describe captivity. Specific dates and locations are generally given. In most cases, a list of interviewee's and the status of the interviewees crew is also given. Personal information, such as peace time profession, and private address are usually listed.
