Senator Elsie Inman fonds

This fonds consists of the personal and political papers of Senator Elsie Inman spanning the years 1942-1986. The papers have separated naturally into the following series and have been arranged chronologically within each series: Speeches; Correspondence; Clubs & Associations; International Organizations; Senate Committees; Subject files on miscellaneous issues; Subject files re. P.E.l.; Newspapers and newspaper clippings; Photographs; and Papers of G. S. Inman & Miscellaneous historical items. The latter series spans the time period 1881-1935 with a few items dated between 1813 and 1874. A small amount of correspondence has been kept separate and access restrictions have been placed on it by the depositor.

This fonds consists of correspondence between members of the Campbell family and pages photocopied from the book "Callander." The first letter dated 17 May 1814, from John Urquhart addresses his children Sarah and Charity Urquhart Campbell. It was sent from John Urquhart in the Miramichi to Mrs. Alex Campbell, Bedeque House, Bedeque, Prince Edward Island. The remaining eight letters (1876-1887?) are all written by P.C. (Peter Cobley) Campbell addressed to his sister, Mamie Campbell McNichol. The content of these letters deal with family and friends of the Campbell family, Peter's quest to obtain the Bredalbane Estate in Scotland, and the opening of his lobster factory near Summerside.

Daniel Hodgson fonds

The fonds consists of a rent book dated 1815 to 1851, which belonged to Robert Hodgson and contains entries for rents paid in Lot 18. A ledger, dated 1832 to 1842, contains the division of the estate of Daniel's father, Robert Hodgson. A letter book of Daniel Hodgson from 1832 to 1840, contains copies of letters he wrote from Charlottetown, many of which deal with a court case against a Quebec trader named Baraque, in which Hodgson acted as attourney for the Warr Brothers of Charlottetown. This letter book also contains entries from the 1830 court minutes, which are located at the back of the book. The fonds also includes an undated account statement of Daniel Breynan with Daniel Hodgson.

This fonds consists of genealogical information, newspapers clippings, photographs, and correspondence of various members of the Carey and MacKieson families of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Also included are a log book of Edward A. Carey and Dr. John MacKieson's medical degree. Many of the items are not dated.

Thomas Halliday fonds : 1815-1818

This fonds consists of three letters relating to Thomas Halliday and his emigration to Prince Edward Island. The first letter, dated 28 October 1815, from Thomas Halliday to the Earl of Selkirk relays the difficulties Halliday encountered upon arriving on Prince Edward Island in that he did not receive the grant of land, located near present day Belfast, promised to him by Selkirk. The remaining letters, dated 4 July 1818, are written by the Earl of Selkirk who attempts to address the problem and are addressed to Thomas Halliday and to William Johnston, Selkirk's agent.

The fonds consists of two copies of an undated article written by Beryl Barrett entitled "The Early Hessian Setters of Prince Edward Island." This twelve page article revolves around the families of Johann Christian Ernst Junker (Younker) and George Weckesser (Vickerson), their German origins, service in the American Revoluton, and their emigration to PEI in the late 1700s. The fonds also contains a letter written by Robert Gray to Lieutenant Governor Charles Douglass Smith regarding public money dated the 17 September 1816.

This fonds consists of a small notebook containing genealogical notes and one letter related to the Butcher, Hooper and Dawson families; a mathematical exercise book in Mark Butcher's handwriting; a daguerrotype of William Hooper, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence; and a miniature watercolour of a PEI scene by H. A. Grant.

The fonds contains arbitration, land and probate records of the Ramsay family from 1817 to 1914. These interactions may involve other Princetown Royalty families such as the Montgomerys and the Owens. Also included are two lists from basket socials presumably held in Lot 18.

The fonds consists of receipts to James MacDonald from the agents of James F. MacDonald for rent payments (1856-1863), two letters from Robert Ogilvie in St. John, New Brunswick, to James MacDonald (1853) reporting hard times and asking for assistance, and one letter from Mrs. MacDonald (1818) to relatives in Scotland describing their crops and stock, her household activities, the severity of winter and the prices of various commodities.

The fonds consists of records relating to the Presbyterian parish of Richmond Bay. Included are registers of baptisms (1820-1847) and marriages (1821-1834) as well as Minutes of session (1821-1847, 1854-1871). The minutes record the appointment of elders, congregational and communion rolls, as well as the examination of persons applying for membership and censure of individual parishioners and congregations. There are also transcripts of the baptisms and of the minutes from 1821 to 1847, an alphabetical list of the baptisms with mother's maiden names annotated, and "A history of Lot 16 United Church" by Thomas G. Whent.
