Rev. W. A. MacQuarrie fonds

This fonds consists of sermons, correspondence, writings, certificates and miscellaneous books and papers all relating to and written or collected by the late Rev. Dr. Waldron Abbott MacQuarrie. The fonds also contains 13 individual and group photographs, the majority of which have captured Rev. MacQuarrie himself on film. Within each series, file arrangement is chronological unless otherwise stated in the series description.

The fonds consists of a minute book, which documents the meetings of the PEI Subscription Library executive from 28 October 1825 to 13 May 1846. In addition to the minutes, the book also contains the by-laws of the group, and lists of books ordered annually.

The fonds consists of a mixture of bound volumes and loose documents which record primarily the financial details of projects for which the department had responsibility. Although the major portion of the fonds is concerned with road construction and maintenance, some series also include information regarding bridges, wharves, ferries and public buildings. The records are arranged chronologically as a whole and also within each series. Some series are also subdivided geographically. The fonds is comprised of the following eighteen series: road ledgers, correspondence & letterbooks, road service daybooks, contracts & tenders, road service cash book, ledgers, journals, rent book, road inspectors returns, road tax ledger, invoices, voucher record books, highway construction accounts, appropriation ledger sheets, rental sheets, Prince County engineer ledger, miscellaneous, and Canada Highways Act.

The fonds consists of a four hundred page ledger dating from 1826 to 1829. The individuals listed within the ledger are sometimes documented according to the community they are from, or by their occupation. Although the majority of the patrons documented within the ledger come from the communities of Cardigan, Launching, and Sturgeon, there are also individuals listed within the ledger from a variety of communities throughout King's County such as Montague, Brundenell, Georgetown, Murray Harbour, and Grand River. Noticeable residents of Charlottetown including Francis Longworth and Daniel Hodgson are also listed as patrons of this store.

Believer immersion as opposed to unbeliever sprinkling / Alex Crawford : [Charlottetown: J. D. Haszard, 1827]

This fonds consists of a microfilm copy of one handwritten volume comprised of two essays and three letters regarding the issue of baptism written by Alexander Crawford. Crawford wrote "Believer immersion as opposed to unbeliever sprinkling" in 1826 in response to a pamphlet issued by Doctor Ross of Truro, Nova Scotia. Rejecting the concept of infant baptism Crawford argued instead for the immersion of the adult believer as the acceptable form of baptism.

Earle Riley collection

The collection consists of correspondence (1848-1918) and land transactions (1827-1916) of the Riley family from the Baltic in Lot 18. James (1810-1806), George (1825-1899), Neil (1830-1899), and John Riley (1837-1921), all of whom were farmers, were the sons of William Riley (1790-1872) and Ann Beaton (1791-1838). The correspondence consists of descriptions of land in Lot 18 (1841), an account statement of James Riley with James McKay (1848) and letters relating to John Riley's claim of exemption from military service (1917-1918). The land transactions include mortgages, conveyances, and leases of land contracted by the Riley brothers.

John Mollison fonds

The fonds consists primarily of published and manuscript copies of Mollison's work on moral philosophy "What is man?..." as well as notes and drafts of other proposed works and letters to editors. One notebook contains survey notes of the Summerside area taken from various land records as well as genealogical notes on the Green family. Along with some miscellaneous personal papers the fonds also contains the minute book of the Liberal Club of Summerside (1896-1898), minutes of the seventh annual session of the Independent Order of Foresters (1900), town accounts of Summerside (1899), an 1828 mss copy by A. Anderson of a map of 1194 acres in Lot 26 surveyed by J. W. Clark, and some miscellaneous postcards and photographs.

Muncey, telegraph operator at Cape Traverse, Schurman family papers, scrapbooks of newspaper articles on churches on PEI, and a schedule of rates of pay and rules governing the service of conductors, baggagemen, brakemen and yardmen on the Intercolonial and P.E.I. Railways, 1913.

These records consist of baptismal (1865-1867, 1891-1898), burial (1865-1867, 1891-1898), and marriage records (1855-1866, 1891-1898), as well as minutes from annual meetings (1829-1861), a stipend subscription list for 1892, and session records from 1878 to1900.
