Series consists of reports conducted by and for the Nursing Department and miscellaneous items. File 17.0.1 consists of a report on turnover in the Department, prepared in June 1981 by the Task Force on Nursing Turnover, Louise Lemieux-Charles and Bernice Gerhart Co-Chairpersons. The purpose of the Task Force was “to identify problems which may contribute to high staff turnover…[and] to make recommendations to improve retention of nursing staff.” File 17.0.2 consists of the final report (May 1983) on TGH Operating Room Services, conducted for the Vice President, Nursing by Woods Gordon Management Consultants. The report reviews factors “impeding the efficient utilization of the operating rooms and generating conflict amongst the staff” and makes recommendations, including “upgrading systems (information, staffing, materials management) and the expansion of some resources (space and staff).” File 17.0.3 consists of a Nursing Staff Survey (November 1983), a follow-up assessment of the effectiveness of staff retention strategies recommended in the report contained in file 17.0.1 .
The John Clarence Webster Fonds consists mainly of his correspondence from the mid 1920s to 1950. Documents from his time in Edinburgh, Montreal and Chicago have been placed with his personal papers. Other personal papers include letters of condolence, memberships, and invitations. Correspondence relating to the acquistion of artifacts for his Canadiana collection has been grouped together as a series following the arrangement of the published catalogues. His work on boards and committees forms another series with the exception of the Committee of Management, Quebec House, England which was kept with the Wolfe series. His collection of manuscripts and his historical correspondence have been arranged by subject. Other correspondence has been arranged in the general correspondence series.

Sub-series consists of documents relating to the lease, mortgage, sale etc. of properties owned, occupied or managed by the Trustees of the Toronto General Hospital and documents relating to the management and disposition of estates endowed to the Trustees of the Toronto General Hospital, including wills and letters probate. Sub-series also includes a ledger of lessees to the Toronto General Hospital.
File 1.9.31 contains original deeds conveying property to the Trustees of the York Hospital (later the Toronto General Hospital) 1822-1850.
Series consists of annual lists of appointments to the TGH medical staff; TGH annual reports; minutes of meetings of the Board and its subcommittees; correspondence; lists of members of the Board; materials relating to special events and ceremonies at the TGH; legislative acts and by-laws pertaining to the TGH; visitors registers; and documents pertaining to the management of property owned by and/ or endowed to the TGH. Sub-series consists of a very small sample of the minutes of meetings of the Board of Trustees and its various sub-committees.
File 1.3.5 contains minutes of sub-committees to consider practical issues relating to the plans to move the TGH to its College St./University Avenue location: Committee to Consider the Reorganization of the TGH Constitution and Government; Committee to Consider Provisions for Treating Pulmonary Tuberculosis at TGH; Building Committee (re: choosing an architect); and the Committee on the Reorganization of the Medical Staff. File 1.3.6 contains a series of excerpts from the minutes of the Board of Trustees March 1926-April 1930, concerning plans for expansion, the building fund campaign, construction and opening of new buildings.
The fonds consists of a journal or memorandum book compiled by Innes. It contains dates of death of her family members and other individuals, primarily Saint John residents; texts of sermons by clergy in Saint John including some for funerals; texts for prayers and Bible verses. There are 3 recipes for cures for such ailments as sore joints and rheumatism. Also included in the journal are dates and locations of fires in Saint John and Portland, and a few dates of storms and earthquakes or tremors. Dates of some marriages, mostly in Saint John and Portland, are also recorded in the journal.
Sub-series consists of correspondence to and from members of the Board of Trustees, legal counsel for the Trustees, and the Board Secretary. The greatest part of the materials contained in this Sub-series is correspondence from the chairman of the Board with subscribers to the TGH Building fund 1918-1934, including lists of subscribers and their commitments, letters of acknowledgment, receipts, subscription cards and invoices.
