Order in council approving civil constitution of New Brunswick
This document is a photographic copy of an order-in-council, putting into force the report of the Lords of the committee for Trade and Foreign Plantations. The committee had laid out the boundaries of the new province, established the form of government and proposed estimates for payment of the officials. The report covers both the new province of New Brunswick and Cape Breton Island.

This fonds consists of photocopies of letters and other documents including: Letters from George Stracey Smyth to John Gee Smyth about family matters, 1814-1822; letter from the Duke of Kent, 1819; the will of G.S. Smyth and papers relating to his estate, 1823-1824; a printed copy of A Sermon preached in Christ Church, Fredericton, April 6 1823, the day after the funeral of his Excellency Major-General George Stracey Smyth …; and The fourth annual report of the state of the Madras school in New Brunswick, Saint John, 1823.
Smyth's correspondence reveals his interest in music and in schools, especially a school for black children (the African School within the Madras system). It also includes details of a dispute between Christ Church, Fredericton (St. Anne's) and Dr. Alexander Boyle (1771-1854), Smyth's executor, over an organ Smyth had bequeathed.

Vansittart Area Association Inc.
The fonds consist of a wide spectrum of documents that relate to the reconstruction of Vansittart Avenue and the formation, and subsequent activities of, the Vansittart Area Association Inc. Records range from the local, provincial and national level and include such topics as the road width, provincial government subsidy, street parking and lighting, tree preservation along the street and flower planting in the boulevard in Vansittart Park. The fonds also touches on the Association’s input into the possibility of a truck by-pass in Woodstock, the creation of the Oxford County Official Plan (specifically the section on historical buildings and sites), the selling of St. Joseph’s Academy building on Vansittart Avenue to Timard Properties, train noise within city limits, and the condition of 53 Vansittart Avenue. Materials included within the fonds include correspondence, newspaper clippings, agendas, and reports as well as maps and drawings.
