The fonds primarily consist of scripts, broadcasts, short stories and commentaries from Allen's writing and broadcast career; correspondence; documents relating to Allen's Navy service and personal reference material; CBC election broadcast coverage; and photographs.

Fonds consists of law publications and print materials relating primarily to government, the Canadian Constitution, or to Newfoundland joining confederation; copies of speeches; correspondence with family, friends, and professional associates, including some from former Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King; newspaper clippings and memorabilia; photographs; and a small group of other miscellaneous documents which includes stories of MacDonald written by friends and associates for the Dalhousie University Faculty of Law publication Hearsay.

Fonds consists of newsletters and poetry publications from 1971-1979. Most of the publications feature poetry written by Velma Brown, but a number of other authors are also featured, including Sidney M. Parker, known as the blind poet of Truro, Nova Scotia.

This fonds consists of records regarding the administration, membership, and productions of the Upstart Theatre Company. Types of records include press releases, press clippings, and other promotional materials, photographs, financial material, meeting minutes, reports, scripts, among others.

University of the air was a distance learning initiative started by CTV's regional television affiliates, to offer degree-related video courses, taught by University professors around the country. Production of University of the Air started in 1966, and continued until 1983. The University of the Air courses were structured into series, around a central theme, and divided into 5 episodes. This collection comprises four such series which were produced in atlantic Canada, and hosted by Dalhousie University Faculty. Series one is entitled "The Oceans", series two is "The Structure of Sound", series three is "20th Century Latin America: Why Revolution", and series four is "Textiles: Their Development and Effects".

Fonds consists of Thomas McCulloch Jr.'s correspondence with various persons and organizations, manuscripts, and documents from McCulloch's visit(s) to France.

Fonds contains both original records and reproductions of materials related to Reverend Thomas McCulloch, including one glass plate of an etching of McCulloch, a hand-written paper concerning vegetation in the Minas Basin, shorthand notes, a ticket for McCulloch’s moral philosophy course at Dalhousie College, microfilmed copies of three books by McCulloch, a Dalhousie thesis discussing McCulloch and the Nova Scotia educational system, and correspondence with Sam Cunard, Lord Dalhousie, the University of Edinburgh, and the Wernerian Natural History Society.

The fonds includes manuscripts of most of his published works—novels, short stories, articles, radio broadcasts and plays, and forewords for other works—from 1929 to 1976; research notes and general historical studies; sound recordings; correspondence covering the years 1914 to 1994 (including letters with other authors and his publishers, among others); diaries (closed at the author's request until 2019); photographs; memorabilia; material related to his father who fought and died in World War I; and several scrapbooks containing reviews of his books, clippings, and other research material.
