Charles MacDonald genealogical

This collection consists of materials compiled and prepared by Charles MacDonald during the course of his research. It includes notes, pedigree charts, newspaper clippings, copies of letters and land petitions, and portrait photographs and sketches of family members. The families represented in this collection are MacDonald, Keirstead, Delong, Beebe, Shearer, Mann, and Erb.

This fonds consists of the administrative records of the Canterbury Women's Institute and includes correspondence; minutes of meetings; hospital bed rental records; treasurer's book and other financial records; an annual report for 1964-1965; Branch of Honour scrapbook; notes relating to the founding of the Canterbury branch; and lists of officers, convenors, and programmes.

John Mann family genealogy

This collection consists primarily of transcriptions of letters written by John Mann to members of his family living in Scotland. A few original letters are also included. The correspondence offers accounts of members of the Mann family and their life in New Brunswick. There are also an original poem composed by John Mann in 1877, genealogical notes prepared by his descendants, and a single piece of correspondence pertaining to the compiling of this collection.

Grant diary

The Grant diary records the daily activities of the Grant family of Old Ridge, St. Stephen Parish, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, between 29 January 1827 and 30 May 1827. The diarist mentions the wedding of sister Marjory, attending church meetings, work done on the farm, visits to and from family and friends, the weather, and community events.

There is also a brief memo containing genealogical information on the Grant family which was probably compiled by Mr. Maxwell.

This fonds consists of a number of original documents and original copies of documents supporting the Pendleton's claim to New Ireland Island in the Bay of Fundy. These documents include quit claim deeds, wills, and receipts. Also included are copies of minutes of meeting of the Ward Pendleton Family Association, correspondence concerning the claim to the Island, and notes pertaining to Pendleton family history.

Rennie family fonds

The fonds consists of the personal papers and photographs of the Rennie family of St. John's, including sketches by Marjorie Rennie (1906), and by R. M. Rennie (1921 and undated); bank statements (1923-31, 1938); correspondence (1931,1936, 1937); Christmas cards (from Prime Minister of Newfoundland-1928, and Royal Canadian Legion-1984); poetry; song lyrics (1866); railway voucher for W. Picco for Royal Canadian Navy (1916). The fonds also includes newspaper clippings.

The fonds consists of records relating to the Rennie businesses including, client list (1982, 1984), R.M. Rennie professional appointment, correspondence with Agriculture Canada (1977), correspondence relating to property ownership (1892, 1893, 1896, 1963), record of labour book (1896-1897), documents relating to the Rennie Baking Company (1902, 1907), undated records of supplies for Rennie's Mill, sales and receipt books (1899-1900, 1956-1981), property maps of Whitbourne property for the National Defence (1742); Corner Brook Bowater's pulp and paper mill (1945); and lot of land leased to U.S.A (1942). The fonds also includes newspaper clippings relating to the Rennie businesses.

Rennie family

John Job collection

Collection consists of 2 photograph albums created by the Job family, reflecting the Job business ventures, Job family activities, as well as historical events. The geographic area represented by the photographs is almost exclusively Newfoundland and Labrador, with the exception of photographs from the Search for the Franklin expedition in Hudson Bay (1903-04).

Albums include photographs of the Job premises in St. John's, Quidi Vidi, Placentia, L'Anse au Loop, Blanc Sablon, Little Heart's Ease, Bell Island, and Whitbourne. Images include buildings (interior and exterior), wharves,shipping, and the fishery, including marine fishery, sealing and whaling.

Historical events represented in the albums include the royal visit of the Duke of York (1901), the sealers' strike (1902), the unveiling of the war memorial in St. John's (1924) by Field Marshall Haig, and scenes from the Viking Disaster (1931). The photographs also illustrate the economic activity and the cultural landscape in that era.

M. Button & Sons fonds

The fonds consists of personal papers of Moses Button and William Button, and business records of the firm of M. Button & Sons. The business papers consist of ledgers, account books and correspondence relating to the operation of the firm from 1892 to its closure in 1953. The personal material includes daily diaries kept by William Button which contain entries on weather, community events, births and deaths, and activities in St. John's and New Melbourne.

The fonds is arranged in five series: Correspondence, 1892-1951; Financial records, 1894-1951; Miscellaneous (legal records, lists and accounts, and published material) 1892-1964; Advertising and price lists, 1912-1942; Personal papers, 1892-1938.

Lottie and George C. Harris family fonds
