A.E. Hetherington fonds

Fonds consists of records relating to Hetherington’s early mission work in Dawson City, his travels in northern British Columbia, and his later travels to Palestine. Records also relate to his correspondence with family; liaison with the Superintendent of Home Missions for BC; and his academic affiliations, including Columbia College, Wesley College, and the University of Manitoba. Fonds comprises the following record series: Travel diaries (1898-1928); Pastoral care records (1903-1907); Family correspondence and memorabilia (1900-2000); and Academic materials (1896-1929).

Alberni Indian Residential School fonds

The fonds consists of a Scrapbook, 1962-1968; a Baptismal record, 1938-1969; a Civil marriage register, 1937-1976; and a Communion roll, 1941-1954. The Communion roll was passed to a congregation, probably Tseshaht United Church, of which the students were members, and used as a record of those members of the congregation who were students at the School from 1954 to 1956.

Paper records include: Information and Stewardship Committee minutes (1956-1963); Correspondence files (1974-1978); Files of Gary Magarrell (1968-1972); Files of Rodney M. Booth (1952-1987); Interchurch Television records (1973-1980); Book Store records (1985-1987); and Financial records (1957-1968).

The fonds consists of minutes, annual reports, correspondence and other records of principals, financial records, class registrations and student marks (1894-1929), report of survey of the college (1927), academic calendars, and copies of "Lux Columbiana", a publication of the Literary Society (1904-1931). Fonds includes minutes, account books and miscellaneous papers of the Women's Educational Club (1909-1935), a marriage register (1921-1929), a scrapbook (1905-1935), and a visitors register (1926-1938).

The fonds consists of 18 marriage certificate stubs, 1901-1932; a Register of baptisms, marriages, and deaths, 1887-1940; a Marriage register, 1900-1919; a register of visitors, 1896-1911; a Marriage register with one entry, Nov. 15, 1899; a Civil marriage register, 1923-1941; missionary subscription lists, 1914-1925; records of admissions and discharges, 1900-1905; and an Indian school register, 1888-1891. The missionary subscription lists include those of the Lower Fraser Circuit for the period 1914-1920, mainly listing subscriptions from the Coqualeetza Institute. Also, there are a few records of marriages in the civil register that took place in Alberni, B.C., most likely at the Alberni Indian Residential School.

Fonds comprises the following record series: Correspondence – JAFT to WST (1945-1998); Published articles and resources (1967-2006); Early writings (1959-1980); Personal correspondence (1966-1986); Academic writings (1958-1967); Newsletters (1984-1994); Regular newspaper columns (2007-2009); Manuscripts for monographs (1996-2001); Reference: books written or edited by James Taylor (1981-2010). Documentary forms include correspondence, research notes, interview transcripts, draft and published versions of magazine articles, play scripts, and full manuscripts of books. Also included is a copy of each published book.
