Fonds consists of Andrew "Scotty" Wright papers and photographs, Mary Wright papers and photographs and some Wright family photographs. Textual records include Scotty Wright journals and notebooks, 1922-1942, correspondence, 1932-1937, and other papers, 1932-1967 re employment and personal matters; also miscellaneous personal papers of Mary Wright Burles, 1927-1967. Photographs are mainly prints and albums pertaining to Andrew "Scotty" Wright and family, friends and associates, activities, hunting trips, mountain travels and skiing, ca.1890-1959. Includes two albums and some prints pertaining mainly to Mary Wright and her friends and activities at Banff and Skoki, ca.1925-1940, as well as photographs by Nick Morant and six panorama and large-format views by Charles D. Walcott.

Fonds consists of research materials collected by Putnam. Textual items are a photocopy of the Glacier House scrapbook, 1897-1910, and a drawing titled "Panorama du Sommet M Sir Donald," by Felix LePrince-Ringuet, from photographs taken by him on July 26, 1899. The Glacier House scrapbook is a register/comment book containing writings of tourists and mountaineers, including accounts of climbs, Swiss guides, Illecillewaet Glacier, Glacier House Hotel and environs. Photographs are views by Putnam at Rogers Pass, 1951, pertaining to remains of railway building and Harvard Mountaineering Club members preparing for a trip.

Fonds consists of manuscript "Reminiscences of a western pioneer: explorations through the Rocky Mountains, the story of a lost mine, the discovery of the Banff hot springs and Cave and Basin, mountain moods and interludes" by William McCardell, 470 p., copy of typescript. The manuscript describes McCardell's trip to western Canada, prospecting, hot springs discoveries, Tom McCardell, Frank McCabe, Jack Healy, Silver City, Stoney Indians, Lost Lemon Mine and other incidents in early Alberta history. Original typescript was prepared by Flt. Lte. W. McCardell, Edmonton (eldest son of Wm. McCardell. Fonds also includes portrait of McCardell, ca.1920, copy.

"On foot in the Rockies" is an account by Bill Hulbert of a pack trip to Kananaskis Lakes and the Spray Valley. The parties described in these accounts met each other en route. Accompanied by photographs of these or similar pack trips.
