John Bell fonds

This fonds consists of four letters sent from Fred Thompson to John Bell between July and October, 1976. Fred Thompson was an organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), editor, historian, and publisher. He was a central figure in the IWW for many years. The letters provide a recounting of Thompson's time in Halifax as a labourer and labour activist and reveal an ongoing discussion between Bell and Thompson regarding labour issues and labour history. The fonds contains no outgoing correspondence from John Bell to Fred Thompson.

It also includes program materials the CCFA used to promote knowledge and awareness about China; documents regarding the Communist Party of China; reference materials; a large collection of slides, primarily of two trips the association organized, one to China in 1975 and one to Asia in 1977; audiocassettes; and materials related to the lecture “How China Feeds 800 Million People” which includes a slide show, audiocassette, and transcription.

Robert O. Jones fonds

Fonds consists of patient records, manuscripts, lecture notes, course material, correspondence, published articles, speeches, photographs, subject files, and papers of various professional associations, all created or collected by Dr. Jones during his career.

The materials in this fonds were generated primarily as a result of Dr. Jones' work as a Psychiatrist in Halifax and as a faculty member at Dalhousie University. Dr. Jones was a member of many associations and the bulk of this collection consists of meeting minutes and correspondence related to these associations.

The fonds consists of a booklet on the history of the Stationary Hospital, the correspondence of nursing matron Laura Hubley, a book of signatures belonging to members of the unit, a small album containing postcards from Sgt. A. Fraser Tupper (who worked with the Dalhousie Unit in 1916 and 1917), and correspondence and photos from Sgt. Tupper to Ralph Kane.
