Kirk of St. James Presbyterian church fonds : [1790-1975]

The fonds consists of the registered baptisms for 1849-1961, marriages for 1850-1865, 1885-1891, 1930-1975, and burials for 1930-1975. Also included are the St. James Church annual reports for 1885-1901, 1903-1905, 1912-1915, 1917-1946. These reports consist of the minutes of annual meetings, financial statements, and reports of various societies such as the Women's Missionary Society and Ladies Aid Report. The fonds also contains the minutes of the annual meeting for 1872 as well as a list of subscriptions to the church for that year.

The majority of the fonds consists of records relating to the Charlottetown Central Christian Church chapter of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. The minute books (1926-1928) record the weekly meetings and their activities such as the debates and topics for discussion that took place, methods of raising money for the support of the pastor, and visiting the sick members of the congregation. The record book for the Young People's Conference of the Church of Christ for PEI, contains records of the annual meetings (1931-1963), which took place at New Glasgow, Charlottetown, Murray Harbor, Montague and Summerside. These meetings consisted of the members of the Young People's Society gathering for a series of religious lectures. Also included in the fonds is a church register which contains an alphabetical listing of church members, changes within the parish relating to those who died and whose names where changed by marriage (1897-1954), and minutes of business meetings (1897-1946), which contain financial statements and church trustee reports.

This fonds consists of a reel of microfilm containing records of baptisms, marriages, burials, confirmations, and communicants for St. Peter's Cathedral spanning the years 1869-1982 as well as a letter book, a register of marks from the 'Boys' School', and a register of pupils with biographical notes. Also included are several textual items documenting the history of St. Peter's and All Souls' Chapel.

This fonds consists of a Marriage Register from August 1964 to August 1982; Minutes of Session, March 1964 to November 1977, 1980 to 1987; Board of Stewards Minutes, March 1963 to February 1965, September 1971 to February 1973, and 1977 to 1987 as well as Minutes of the Christian Education Committee 1979 to 1985 and Minutes of the Worship Committee for Session of Trinity, Park Royal and Spring Park United Churches.

This collection consists of an illustrated history of St. Mark's Church including biographical sketches of its Ministers, a list of charter members, and a record of events in 1990-1991 celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Church.

St. Mark's Presbyterian Church came into being in February 1961 on the recommendation of a special committee set up by the Presbytery of Prince Edward Island to study the possiblity of, and need for, establishing a congregation in the Sherwood-Parkdale area. Early services of the Sherwood-Parkdale Presbyterian Church as it was then called, were held in the Sherwood Hall. Construction of a manse was completed in December 1966 and of the Church in December 1968. The name was changed in 1967 to St. Mark's Presbyterian Church.
