The collection consists of papers and photographs gathered by Gary Carroll. The collection includes correspondence relating to his research on Governor Walter Patterson, information regarding the 1965 Federal-Provincial Youth Travel Program to Manitoba, papers and images belonging to his father, Linus J. Carroll, an account book for Hemphill and Carroll furniture upholstering and refinishing (1945-1948), financial statements for Archer and MacDonald Limited (1967), and images of various buildings, individuals, and groups. Many of the images have been identified and dated by the donor.

The Bank of Nova Scotia opened its first branch on Prince Edward Island on 19 June 1882 in a building purchased from the defunct Bank of Prince Edward Island located at the northeast corner of Great George and King Streets. In 1883 it amalgamated with the Union Bank of Prince Edward Island and removed to that institution's building on the southeast corner of Great George and Richmond Streets. It continued to conduct business at this site until 1921 when it moved into new premises at Grafton and University where it remains today. The photograph is of the players, coach and referee of the Pioneer hockey team, junior PEI champions of 1911. The team was presumably sponsored by the Pioneer newspaper of Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Individuals are identified as follows:

Herb Schurman collection

The collection consists of historical materials gathered by Herbert Schurman. It includes a published booklet entitled "The Tourist's Unofficial Guide to P.E.I." (ca. 1984), a typewritten poem, a list of local policemen (1876-1969), and a photocopy of a letter written by Mr. Schurman regarding his hockey experiences. The collection also includes a postcard of the Leas Merry Sunshine Fox Ranch in Summerside.
