Gil Cardinal fonds

The fonds consists of records from Gil Cardinal’s independent and freelance projects; the film companies co-founded by Cardinal (Great Plains Productions, Kanata Productions, Strange Empire Productions); and his work for NFB, BBC, or other broadcasters.

The textual materials contain the complete business records of Great Plains Productions, creative records for specific projects (including scripts, notebooks, shot lists, story boards, and editing notes), administrative records for specific projects (including contracts, financial records, grant applications, and correspondence), developmental records related to unrealized projects, and personal records (including correspondence, speaking notes, speeches, and teaching material).

The films consist of home movies from Cardinal’s foster family (some of which were used as part of Foster Child); a tour of the Canadian Museum of Civilization with its architect, Douglas Cardinal; and release prints of Foster Child.

The videocassettes consist of original shooting tapes and completed masters of several projects. Most prominent among these are My Partners, My People, Our Home and Native Land, The Great Possibility, and David with F.A.S. There are also masters, but not shooting tapes, for several other projects including Big Bear, Chiefs (for both episodes directed by Cardinal), Totem, and others. Some of these masters are on DVD as well as videocassette.

The photographs, negatives, and slides consist of images shot by Cardinal during the course of filming, images of special events, and family photos.

McDonald family fonds

Fonds consists of records pertaining to Helen McDonald's personal life and her career as a teacher. Fonds also consists of records pertaining to Justin McDonald's career in the military and as a doctor. The records include diplomas, photographs, certificates and a scrapbook of greeting cards, programs, and newspaper clippings.

Vera Collins Webb fonds

The fonds consists of a diary portraying the excitement of Canadians caused by the visit of King George and Queen Elizabeth in 1939. Vera Collins Webb illustrated the diary with her own watercolour paintings.

Consists of her law school notes, client files from her legal practice, material generated in her career as an alderman for the city of Edmonton, correspondence and newsletters from various youth and peace organizations she was involved with, correspondence created as secretary of the Empire Opera Company and its predecessor the Opera Slav, and personal correspondence with family and friends.

Consists of a large collection of black and white photographs, as well as theatre programmes, news clippings, guest books and other memorabilia of the entertainers who performed in Edmonton between 1911 and 1924 and stayed at the Springer's hotel. The majority of the material is publicity material either for the Pantages Theatre or the individual artists themselves.

Citadel Theatre fonds

The fonds consists of records created, received, and solicited in the mounting of productions created by The Citadel as well as by its outreach programmes. The records are comprised of files, plans, scripts, audiovisual material, and promotional material as well as a significant number of administrative, financial, and personnel files. Also included are plans, both architectural and structural, for the new theatre additions.

Fonds consists of microfilm copies of architectural drawings prepared by the firm of Howard and Robert Bouey and their predecessors, dating from 1819 until 1964. Included are plans for churches, school buildings, hospitals, warehouses, hotels, theatres, stores, banks, office buildings, apartment blocks and residences. The majority of these buildings were situated in Edmonton, although a number were located in other Alberta communities and a few were in locations outside of the province.
