Collection contains curriculum materials related to the study and teaching of Chemistry, Algebra, Geometry, Mathematics, English and French language studies in Manitoba dating mostly from the 1940s. Collection also contains Christmas concert and dramatic materials. Fonds also includes notes from the Manitoba Fine Arts Committee, April 1939, and notes concerning the Manitoba Camera Club, the Manitoba Drama League, Manitoba Society of Artists, Manitoba Adult Education Association, Winnipeg Sketch Club and the Manitoba Handicraft Guild.

History

The series consists of documents tracing the history of the Grande Prairie Music Festival from 1921-1968, including an article by Herbert G. Turner titled "How Culture Came to North America", a copy of the Peace River Music Festival Programme from 1927 when the first music festival was held, and financial statements from 1969-1973. Financial statements for 1971, 1972, 1976, 1978, 1979 are contained in the back of the next year's programs.

Programs

The series consists of program booklets for each festival showing schedules for each of the classes of competition, locations, names of competitors, patrons, committee members and in some cases names of adjudicators and copies of newspaper articles.

Grand Concerts

The series consists of programs for the Grand Concert at the Grande Prairie Music Festival which list concert presenters, award winners, patrons and donors, and recommendations for provincial competitions. Some programs include names of festival committee members and news articles are sometimes inserted.

Olaf Vekved fonds

The fonds consists of an unlined Norwegian School scribbler labeled "Tegnebog for Olav Vekvic," containing five pencil drawings signed by Olav and dated 1906, when he was 19 years old. Most of them are floral bouquets, but one is a portrait of an elderly man described as "Utenrikeminister Lavland". There is also a 1928 report from the Experimental Sub-Station at Beaverlodge, AB, and a 1920 letter from The Pellman Institute regarding a course of studies about which Olaf had enquired.
