This sub-series consists of copies of the TWH internal publication Western Hours (WH).
WH was begun in 1953 as the Hospital's staff yearbook/ Christmas magazine, containing articles by staff and administrators, news and announcements, photographs and drawings, poetry, departmental reports and staff obituaries.
From 1953 to 1959 the magazine was published by the TWH Personnel Department and edited by the Hospital's Personnel Officer (Norman Thompson, issues Christmas 1953 to Easter 1956; and Shaun Duffy, issues Christmas 1956 to Christmas 1959). During these years WH was published irregularly, but always at Christmas. From this period this sub-series is missing at least six issues: edition nos. 1-2, 1957; and edition nos. 1-4, 1959.
From 1960 to 1976 WH was published by an "Editorial/ Magazine Committee" under various editorships. Beginning with the Christmas 1977 issue WH was published by the TWH Department of Public Relations, under the editorship of Public Relations Officer Kathleen Wright.
The last issue of WH in magazine format was the annual Christmas issue for 1983. Beginning with an issue dated September 1, 1984 WH was published bi-monthly as a 4-page newsletter, replacing the companion TWH publication West Winds as the staff newsletter. Kathleen Wright continued to edit WH in its new format until June 1986. From July 1986 to May 13, 1987 WH was edited by Public Relations Officer Lucie Baistrocchi; from May 28, 1987 until April 22, 1988 WH was edited by Public Relations Officer Joanne Milner.
