John Kenneth Dopson was born in Adanac, Saskatchewan on November 5, 1910. He came to Prince Rupert to work at the Drydock as a shipwright and later for McLean Shipyards. He married Mary Amy Spalding, a First Nations woman from Port Essington, born on March 28, 1927. They had two sons, Alan and Jim. Mary died on May 5, 1971 and Ken died on August 23, 1998.

The fonds consists of photographs of the Prince Rupert Drydock. Seven of the photographs were taken during the war and the others were taken later in 1983 when it was demolished.
The photographs were donated to the archives in March 1983 by Ken Dopson.
