Captain James Betson Anderson was born in England in 1850 and received his Master's certificate in 1876. William Anderson worked on the CGS Estevan from 1916 to 1917 as a trimmer, oiler, fireman, and storekeeper.

The fonds consists of James Betson Anderson's Masters Certificate and shipping federation papers along with correspondence. Fonds includes William Anderson's Certificate of Discharge from CGS Estevan (1917), logbook notes (1916-1917), programme for Navy Day, 1955, and two photographs of the CGS Estevan.
