Custodial history
Scope and content
Fonds consists of photographs of Toronto and vicinity taken by John McQuarrie. Many of the photographs were used as source material for the book "Toronto then and now" by Mike Filey (Ottawa: Magic Light Publishing, c2000). McQuarrie co-designed the book and provided the contemporary photographs.
Subjects covered include Toronto landmarks and buildings, neighbourhoods, parks, public art, skyscrapers, roads and highways, and waterfront areas and beaches. The area covers Toronto east of the Humber River to west of the Scarborough Bluffs, and from the waterfront to Pearson Airport and York University. Over half of the images are low-level oblique aerial photographs. The particular images used for the book have not been identified or set aside.
