Biographical history
The Kilby family settled at Harrison River, later known as Harrison Mills, in 1903. Thomas and Eliza Kilby established a general store (incorporating a post office) and a dairy farm. These business operations were carried on by son Acton and his wife Jessie. The Kilby family was active in community affairs. Acton Kilby served on the executive of various dairy industry organizations in the Fraser Valley, including the Milk Shippers Agency. Acton and Jessie Kilby established a small museum in 1967 on the family premises. The museum and site were later purchased by provincial government, and in 1973 the site was declared an historic park. The site and museum are now operated as provincial heritage sites.
