The fonds consists of the administrative and program history records for Kluane and Beaver Creek first nations under the Kluane Tribal Brotherhood from 1961 until the separation of the two in 1990, after which only the newly created Kluane Tribal Council material has been retained. The records then move into the period under the name Kluane First Nation from 1992-1999. The records reflect the daily business for Kluane First Nation and exhibit a progressive movement toward self-government and self-determination of the First Nation. Records were generated from the growing administrative and financial activities of the Band. The structure of the organization grew around the finance and administrative functions. Next to evolve were the economic development and capital functions. Operation of these two functions was the responsibility of the Band Manager. The fonds is arranged in eight series: Administration, with sub-series Finance; Capital; Economic Development; Education; Governance, with sub-series Chief and Council; Health and Social; Land Claims; Lands and Resources, with sub-series Kluane National Park. The fonds also contains 52 topographical maps of the Yukon Territory that have been annotated for use by Kluane First Nation during its Land Claims process. It is noted that the fonds is by no means a complete picture of the history of the First Nation for the years described. The project has made the leadership aware of missing original documents.
