Biographical history

Joseph Ladouceur came to Lac La Biche, North-Western Territories, in 1804 from Quebec. He married Josephte Cardinal, daughter of Joseph Soldat Cardinal and Louise Frobisher, in 1813. He had a son, Joseph. In 1843, Joseph (b. 1813) married Julie Auger. Five of their sons survived: Joseph, Augustin, Narcisse, David, and Adam (1843--1910). Adam's brothers worked as fur traders in the Lac La Biche area while Adam farmed. The family maintained a trading post at River Lot 3, and later at River Lot 45 near Notre Dame des Victories. Adam married Margeurite Desmarais (1847--1902) in 1872 and died in 1910 in Lac La Biche. Adam's father, Joseph, died in 1890. A fire destroyed the trading post in 1970.
