Biographical history

Leslie Sinclair "Larry" Loomer was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, son of Earle Raymond Loomer and Verna Barbara Neaves. He attended Windsor Academy and King's College School (1948-1949), Acadia University and universities in the United States. He began a career as an art teacher and painter, and also had an early career as a writer and editor with the Telegraph-Journal and Evening Times-Globe, Saint John, New Brunswick, and the Daily Gleaner and Atlantic Advocate, Fredericton, N.B. The last 29 years of his business career were as a dealer in used books in Windsor (Loomer's Antique Book Store). He published many books, including King's-Edgehill School 1788-1988 published in 1988, and Windsor, Nova Scotia: a journey in history published in 1996. Larry Loomer died on 30th May 2003 in Wolfville Ridge, N.S., at the age of 73.

Fonds consists of a manuscript prepared by Loomer for his book, King's-Edgehill School 1788-1988, published in 1988. The fonds includes a letter to John Messenger, headmaster of King's-Edgehill School, from Loomer, regarding the manuscript.
