Biographical history

Medical doctor or physician, Malcolm Campbell MacDonald, the son of Janet Hendry and Alexander Black MacDonald, was born on 15 October 1836 at Central Cambridge, Queens County, New Brunswick. The MacDonalds raised no fewer than 4 other children, namely, James, Daniel, Alexander B., and Susan Anne. Alexander B. MacDonald, Jr. became a minister and served as pastor of the Baptist church at Cambridge.

Malcolm C. MacDonald married Hulda or Hilda Cox (1841-1923) on 3 August 1892 at Cambridge, Queens County, and they had a daughter, Florence (b. 1896). By 1892 and probably before that date, Malcolm MacDonald was practising medicine at Cambridge and he continued his work there for many years. Like many 19th century doctors, he also doubled as a dentist and farm animal veterinarian in an emergency. Dr. Malcolm MacDonald also served as clerk of the local Baptist church. He died on 11 September 1916 and was buried in the Lakeview Cemetery, Cambridge Narrows, in Queens County.
