Margaret Catherine MacInnis (alternate spelling McInnis) was born in 1859 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon D. Fraser. Margaret (or Maggie) married a young physician, Martin B. MacInnis, and in 1883 their first child Carlyle William was born, followed by a daughter, Jessie Claire, in 1893. Dr. MacInnis found it impossible to support his family and remove the debt from his mother's farm with his practice in P.E.I. In 1889 the MacInnis family immigrated to the United States, first to South Bend, Washington, and then in 1894 to San Francisco. In 1896, Dr. MacInnis moved his practice to Callmalli Mexico. The family followed in late 1897. Dr. M. B. MacInnis died in Mexico in 1898. Margaret and her two children lived with relatives in Halifax before joining her brother, John William Cameron Fraser, in Ladner, British Columbia, in 1903. Margaret purchased a house on Lots 158 to 161 of Lot 106 Gp. 2 (District of New Westminster), the corner of 47th Avenue and Garry Street, from William Goudy in 1908, where she lived until her death in 1941. By 1906 Carlyle MacInnis was employed by the Alberta government in the Department of Public Works. At the outbreak of World War I, Carlyle enlisted and served overseas with the Ninth Battalion from Edmonton. He was injured in France and in an accident in England which affected his health for several years. Carlyle rose to the rank of major and was appointed chief intelligence officer of the Canadian General Staff, where he organized the intelligence department of the Canadian corps in England. Major MacInnis was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Masonic order, and the Odd Fellows. He married Helen A. [?], and they had three daughters. Major MacInnis died in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 66 on June 30, 1949. Jessie Claire MacInnis was born in South Bend, Washington State, April 10, 1892. Jessie completed her schooling at Ladner Public School and later took courses in bookkeeping. She also took drawing and piano lessons. Jessie was given title to her mother's house on the corner of 47th Avenue and Garry Street in 1940, and lived there into the late 1960s. The house was sold and an apartment building built on the lots by 1973. Jessie died June 21, 1977 at the age of 84. John William Cameron Fraser was born 1866 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon D. Fraser, and died at the age of 68, January 10, 1934 at the Shaughnessy Military Hospital in Burnaby, British Columbia. J. W. Fraser moved to Delta, British Columbia, around 1903 where he was joined by his sister Margaret MacInnis and her two children. John worked as a bookkeeper for various companies in Ladner and later as a teamster.
