Biographical history

Mary Ann Lidstone was born in Port Essington, BC on June 29, 1904 to Mark and Lillian "Lily" (Jones) Edgar. Her grandparents were Methodist missionaries on the north coast from the 1880s to 1931. Her parents were both born in Port Simpson and lived for many years at 728 Lotbienere Street in Prince Rupert where they raised nine children. Mary worked for the Pioneer Laundry and Deane Cleaners in Prince Rupert. She married Thomas Lidstone on December 21, 1925. Mary died on July 18, 1986 at age 82.

Custodial history

The records were donated to the archives by Mary Lidstone in May and June, 1983 and by her niece Barbara Sheppard in July, August 1986, February 1988, May and September 1989, and May 1997.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of records from Mary Lidstone. It includes photographs, some taken by her, and others she collected depicting people, events such as fires and parades, scenes on the north coast, and some canneries. It also includes a letter written to Mary.
