Fonds contains the personal and professional records of four generations of the Bigelow family of Nova Scotia. It includes correspondence, legal and financial documents, diaries and memoirs, and photographs that document primarily the family's shipbuilding activities as well as the genealogical interests of John Robert Bigelow.

This fonds consists of a photocopy of a single manuscript called "My Memoirs." The memoirs focus largely on Fillmore's family history and the early period of his life prior to his involvement with the Maritime Communist Party.

John Wilkinson's memoir of his wife, Mabel, focuses primarily on her years as a teacher, and is "partly written, but mainly compiled." He completed it in 1975, a year after her death.

All textual materials relate to his life, his far-reaching research studies, or his writings.
