Fonds comprises exam questions, debating notes, dance cards, invitations, sorority notes, pins and other memorabilia from McCurdy's student years at Dalhousie University. There are also records (correspondence, financial statements, clippings, menus) from university reunions in 1938, 1967 and 1977.

Fonds consists of correspondence (1943-1975), publications (1946-1970), addresses and forewords (1944-1977), unpublished documents (1952-1978), material collected for reference and other purposes, newspaper cuttings, memorabilia (1934-1977), and black and white photographs (1946-1975), written or collected by Guy Henson. Reference and other materials pertain to a wide variety of topics, including golf, education in Nova Scotia, political movements and current affairs, social causes, labour, management, and the activities of many local, provincial and national societies.

Fonds consists of materials created and collected by Norman Creighton, including radio scripts; published and unpublished manuscripts for short stories and articles; correspondence; audio tapes and records; research notes; newspaper and magazine clippings; photographs; financial papers; memorabilia. Materials primarily relate to Creighton's long career as a writer and broadcaster, but also include materials relating to his personal life and family history. The fonds contains photographs of singers and musical groups, theatrical paraphernelia, and documents regarding the construction of Ward's home on Beaufort Avenue in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as other printed material.

This fonds consists of a variety of materials related to all aspects of Read's career. The fonds includes a range of correspondence; biographical records pertaining to Read himself such as newspaper clippings and a curriculum vitae; conference papers; various association files and Dalhousie committee files; lecutres; souvenirs from Read's military career that include certificates, miniature medals, a records of military service; published and printed workds; committee files related to the Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board, the Nova Scotia Royal Commission on Auto Insurance, Uniformity of Legislation in Canada, the King's Regulation Revision Committee; and photographs (primarily of Read during the War or attending various functions).

File contains a scrapbook documenting Helen Arnell's student life at Dalhousie University from 1907-1911, including her BA diploma. The file also contains her 1905-1906 class pin from the Halifax Academy and her Dalhousie class pins from 1911.

Fonds consists of patient records, autopsy reports, correspondence, various medical reports from several institutions, and business records including a ledger and daily journals.

Fonds includes Alan Creighton's diaries, which cover many of the years from 1920 to 2000. Writings from the period 1920 to 1954 (many undated) are mainly short stories and poems. These writings include handwritten and typed, complete and incomplete, and published and unpublished works. There is also some correspondence throughout as well as copies of his two books of poetry. The fonds includes writings with titles such as "About Poetry," "Poetry Courses," "Thoughts," "Music & Art," and "Bedford Basin." His notebooks include evidence of a variety of courses taken, including French and Greek, music, poetry, and art (both practice and history, including Chinese art). There is also a record of his art sales from 1964 to 1999. Personal and family documents are included in the fonds.

Alan Creighton's artwork is extensive and primarily in the form of sketches and watercolours, with a few oil paintings. Many of his sketches are in albums, many of which are used exclusively for one particular aspect of his studies. For example, album labels include "People," "Trees," "Skies," "Rock Formations," "Buildings," "Railway Sketches" (scenes from train journeys), and "Outdoors." Others identify a place and time and include such labels as "At the Zoo," "Nova Scotian Sketches 1951," "South Shore 1982," and "Toronto 1996." Still others contain a mixture of styles and themes. There are also numerous loose sketches and watercolours which have been loosely arranged into similar groupings such as "Clouds," "Boats," "Flowers," and so forth. Photograph albums include photos of family and of scenes taken by Alan as a reference for future paintings.

Included with Alan Creighton’s personal items are papers, writings, art, and memorabilia belonging to his friend and roommate Christine Eyles, who died without heirs. Some relate to her employment as a violinist in England and in Toronto, Ontario and some contain her poetry, plays, and artwork (in sketchbooks and on loose paper). Published and handwritten music scores, mostly for the violin, are also included. A photograph album contains many formal portraits of family and friends taken in England in the early 20th century. Records also include papers by and about her father, Charles Eyles, a famous violin-maker. Such materials include advertisements, brochures, and letters attesting to the high quality of his craftsmanship.

The fonds includes manuscripts of most of his published works—novels, short stories, articles, radio broadcasts and plays, and forewords for other works—from 1929 to 1976; research notes and general historical studies; sound recordings; correspondence covering the years 1914 to 1994 (including letters with other authors and his publishers, among others); diaries (closed at the author's request until 2019); photographs; memorabilia; material related to his father who fought and died in World War I; and several scrapbooks containing reviews of his books, clippings, and other research material.
