Church of Scotland fonds : [1853-1900]

  • CA PCA Acc3095
  • Fonds
  • Microfilmed 1978

The fonds consists of both the original and transcribed baptismal records for the Church of Scotland circuit, encompassing the communities of Orwell Head, Desable, Birch Hill/ Murray River, Cape Traverse, and Canoe Cove. These records document the baptisms for Orwell Head (1853-1886, 1867-1890), DeSable (1853-1867), Birch Hill/Murray River (1878-1896,1878-1900), and Cape Traverse, DeSable, and Canoe Cove (1853-1900). Other records are documented according to the Ministers and elders of the community instead of the geographical location, such as the baptisms performed by Reverend James McColl and Reverend John Goodwill (1867-1900), Reverend D. M. Campbell (1896-1900), and elders George Bear, John Compton, and Ewen Lamont (1868-1898), and Elias Roberts (1869-1900). The fonds also contains a funeral register (1895-1900) kept by undertaker John T. Profit.
