History
The Arena Commission was established in 1941 to manage the Civic Arena building and premises. The first members of the Commission included John E. Ryan, James F. Edge-Partington, William P. MacDonald, William Hunter Jr. and Philip Piper. In 1957, the Board of Parks Commissioners, the Arena Commission and the Recreation Commission were merged to become the Parks and Recreation Commission.
