Custodial history
Scope and content
The fonds consists of a letter written by Neil McGougan in 1857 while in Boston addressed to his brother Duncan in San Francisco, California. The latter had travelled from Malpeque, Prince Edward Island to California as crewman on the "Fanny" in 1849. In the letter, Neil urges his brother to return home to Prince Edward Island. The letter contains news of family and relatives in Malpeque. Also included in the letter are references to family property holdings and transfers, shipbuilding information, and brief reference to Island politics.
