Biographical history
Né à Saint-Benoît-de-Paris en janvier 1700, Nicolas Boisseau était le fils de Pierre Boisseau, procureur au Parlement de Paris, et de Marguerite Gérin (Guérin). Dès son arrivée dans la colonie en 1722, Boisseau fut employé comme écrivain du roi au bureau de l'Intendance à Québec et ce, jusqu'en 1726. Cette année-là, il devint greffier en chef de la Prévôté de Québec. Le 15 avril 1731, Boisseau obtint une commission de notaire royal, confirmée par le roi Louis XV le 22 avril 1732. À la suite à sa nomination, le 25 mars 1744, au poste de greffier en chef du Conseil supérieur, il abandonna ses charges notariales ; son fils Nicolas-Gaspard lui succéda alors comme greffier de la Prévôté et Jean-Claude Panet prit sa place de notaire royal. Il mourut le 9 février 1771 à Québec et fut inhumé le 11 dans la chapelle du séminaire. Il avait épousé Marie-Anne Pagé dite Carcy le 9 septembre 1725 à Québec puis, Marie-Louise Bissot de Vincennes, le 4 juin 1741 à Québec.
