Fonds consists of records pertaining to Gauvreau's personal life, political interests and involvement in various associations. Other materials include business and land records pertaining to his work and career in the Peace River area. The fonds has been divided into two series: Personal records and Business activities.

Immediate source of acquisition
Pierre Gauvreau's wife deposited the records of PR1966.135 and PR1973.480 with the Provincial Archives of Alberta over the course of several years. The records found in PR2010.0591 were first donated to the Peace River Museum and Archives by Pierre Gauvreau's grandson, Andy Gauvreau, and were then transferred to the Provincial Archives of Alberta in the interest of keeping Pierre Gauvreau's records together.
