Cette pièce est un plan figuratif de la rive nord de la rivière Ottawa ou Grande Rivière, devenue rivière des Outaouais, entre les illustres rapides du Long-Sault dans le canton de Grenville et ceux, plus à l'est, de Chute Blondo (Ontario) en face du canton de Chatham. Elle montre en fait le tracé projeté du canal de Carillon, construit entre 1819 et 1834, ainsi que la division des terres et l'emplacement des bâtiments. Plusieurs noms de propriétaires y sont identifiés tels les Cammeron, Greece, Owens, Mc Phee, Mc Vicar, Du Verney, W. Millans. On y aperçoit également le lac Dollard-des-Ormeaux et l'île Struthers ainsi que le barrage et le moulin Hamilton situés du côté ontarien de la rivière. Il est par ailleurs probable selon une inscription à l'endos du plan que cette pièce ait été déposée à la Cour du banc de la reine à Montréal, en 1849, dans une cause opposant entre autres un dénommé Taylor
