Biographical history

Né en France en 1742, Maurice Desdevens de Glandon est le fils de Joseph Desdevens de Glandon et de Gabrielle Avet-Forand. Arpenteur royal, il pratique sa profession de 1767 à 1799, avec une interruption d'un peu plus de dix ans. En effet, au cours de cette période, il doit s'exiler aux États-Unis en raison de sa participation, aux côtés des Américains, à leur tentative de conquérir le Canada en 1775 et en 1776. Il épouse le 19 janvier 1767, à Sainte-Geneviève-de-Batiscan, Thérèse Mathon (1752-1799), fille de Joseph Mathon, chirurgien, et de Marie-Josephte Arbour (1717-?). De cette union, naît, entre autres, en 1772, François Desdevens de Glandon, lui-même arpenteur de 1796 à 1802
