Biographical history
Richard Wallace was probably born at Southampton, England. About 1880 he jumped ship at Saint John, New Brunswick, settling at McGivney, in the parish of Stanley, York County, New Brunswick. He may have worked as a section man for the Canadian National Railway for many years. What is certain is that he wrote a short story about a sailor who jumped ship and found adventure in Rio de Janeiro. The protagonist seems to have been modelled somewhat after Wallace himself. Robert Wallace probably died on 4 December 1932 at McGivney.

This fonds consists of a single item -- a short story written by Richard Wallace about the adventures of a sailor who jumped ship in Rio de Janeiro and hunted for lost treasure. The manuscript is missing pages 12 to 15 along with the conclusion.
