Biographical history
Starting out as a group of ladies getting together for quilting, the ground was turned for the formation of the Guild in the fall of 1978. They met once a week at the Forestry School. When the Town of Hinton built a Recreation Center in 1982, the group moved to the Arts and Crafts room. The first executive was: Maureen Glueck, Mary-Ann McCormick and Helen Lindsay. Shortly after, these ladies moved to be replaced by Carol Hamilton and Edna Rink. Carol and Edna remain active in the group. In 1988, the group was incorporated as a Society. The first group project was a quilt for raffle in 1978. Over the years, they have participated in a competition held in honor of Alberta's 75th Anniversary; a Canada wide competition sponsored by Canadian Living and Warm and Natural Batting Company; made quilts for the Ronald MacDonald project, Yellowhead Emergency project and for the maternity room and Palliative Care project at the hospital. Some members have taught quilting course; travelled across Canada attending conferences and entering thier quilts in shows. They have been instrumental in launching many citizens into the love of quilting over the years. In 2009, they moved into their new home on the second level of "The Guild" along with other Arts groups in Hinton.
