The fonds contians a photocopy of a letter written by James Cross from Quebec on 18 August 1860 to ahis cousin Mary Ann (Cross) Carew who lived in Bungay, Prince Edward Island at the time of the visit of the Prince of Wales. He talks about family matters and expresses his pleasure with Prince Edward Island. The fonds also contains a photograph of James Cross taken about the same time.

The collection consists of five teachers' class books from Elmira School, 1956-1961, a ledger from the "Black Bush Factory", 1890-ca. 1935, 2 mathematics and one history textbook used in Island schools, volumes 2 and 3 of "The Eastern Graphic magazine", "Souris, 1910-1980; a profile of the town", and "The Royal visit; an Atlantic Canada album".

Series forms part of Nova Scotia Girl Guides Provincial Council and Executive Committee fonds and consists of correspondence, programs, itineraries, travel records and pamphlets of visitations to Nova Scotia. Series includes information regarding visits by Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, Chief Commissioners Reta Currah and Joan Howell, and two Royal Visits.

The various items in this collection were apparently acquired by various members of the Burnett family. They reflect Bill Burnett's life and career, containing documents and photographs which relate to his, and his family's, involvement in their community. It has been arranged in the following series:
