Née en Allemagne, Mme Schnurr émigre au Canada (à Montréal) après la deuxième guerre. En 1977, elle élit résidence à Poltimore dans le comté de Papineau, et entreprend une recherche sur l'établissement allemand dans deux villages de la région, Bowman et High Falls. Ses recherches ont fait l'objet, en 1988, d'un livre intitulé: "Tracing their footsteps... The History of the German Settlement of High Falls, its people and its environment, 1860-1930"
