The fonds consists of a volume of transcribed correspondence between Proudfoot family members dating the 15 November 1826 to 21 August 1889, and also contains genealogical data on Proudfoot family members. Other textual records relate to the Proudfoot family's life on PEI such as invoices for the tax on their land in Lot 23 (1841-1887), insurance policies for C.C. Proudfoot (1883-1888), and accounts with local tailors and businesses (1883-1888), and information on the estate of Mary Ryan and Jane Miller. The fonds also contains information relating to the school in Fortune Cove, including C.C. Proudfoot's assessments for school taxes (1888-1889), and William Goldworthy, apprenticed to James Proudfoot in 1855.
