Secwepemc Cultural Education Society Archives
The holdings consist of documents, photographs, maps and oral history recordings relating to the history and culture of the Shuswap Indian People. Documents include Kamloops Indian Residential School records and architectural drawings, Native newspapers, band newsletters, publications by Father J.M. LeJeune, and tribal council files. Photograph subjects include the Kamloops Indian Residential School, traditional lifestyles, early reserve photographs and family portraits, the 1901 Passion Play at Kamloops, and contemporary Native organizations. The diverse map collection, depicting Shuswap lands and reserves, includes government survey maps, historical maps, and maps produced during recent research into the language, history and culture of the Shuswap People. Archival holdings also include oral history tapes.
