History

Selkirk College Archives was established in 1984 as a part of the Selkirk College Library. The archives collects and preserves archival material of a regional nature relating to the West Kootenay and Boundary areas.

The archives collects and preserves materials relating to the West Kootenay and Boundary area of British Columbia (School districts 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 19 south of the Trans-Canada Highway and 86 north of Kootenay Bay). Special emphasis is given to those materials of a regional nature rather than materials which concern a specific town or city, i.e. Nelson, Trail. The archives also acquires the records of Selkirk College according to predetermined record retention and disposal schedules.
