Biographical history
The Shawnigan Lake Athletic Association was established in 1909 to build and operate the Shawnigan Lake Athletic Association Hall as a community hall. The hall was built and opened in 1910. The Association also sponsored an annual regatta. In 1963, the Association was dissolved and the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre was established to continue the operations of the community hall.

The fonds consists of the correspondence (1963-1972) and financial records (1963-1976) of the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre and records of the Shawnigan Lake Athletic Association including minute books (1927-1963), shareholders books (1909-1947), cashbooks and ledgers (1909-1963), bank book (1932-1942), porch register (1931-1947), correspondence (1947-1962), and financial records (1957-1962).
