History

The Spallumcheen Indian Band of the Shuswap Nation established fishing camps and winter homes along the Shuswap River from Mabel Lake to Shuswap Lake for thousands of years. Evidence of pit houses and cache pits can still be seen in many locations along the river. Studies have been made of several of these sites.
