Biographical history

The Sisters of Providence, a Catholic religious community, was established in Montreal, Quebec in 1843, to serve the poor and less fortunate members of society. It became established in several other regions, including the Canadian West. The nuns worked primarily in rural areas, including at St. Joseph's mission at Cluny, Alberta and the Lacombe Home at Midnapore, Alberta.
