Scope and content
Fonds consists of transcripts of interviews ([196-], 1966 June-1967 August) with Evelyn Sparrow Plunkett (b. 1886), Mona Sparrow (b. 1895) and Francis Devereau (Frank) Sparrow (b. 1891); excerpts from two letters (1966 December 12 - 1967 January 15), written by Bernard Roy (Buck) Sparrow (1892-1967), describing A.C. Sparrow's ranches; brief notes on A.C. Sparrow by his grandson Lawrence Sparrow; and interview with Zita Burns Coughlin, relating to the Sparrow family. Interviews describe day to day life in Calgary from the 1880s to about 1920, including social customs and events; education at Sacred Heart Convent; friendships with other early pioneers, such as the Burns family; medical care; entertainment; and trips to Cochrane, Banff and Fort Macleod.
