The records were acquired by the City of Edmonton Archives from the City of Edmonton in 1965 and 1992. It is believed that the City of Edmonton acquired the records after amalgamation of the two cities in 1912.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of materials created by the Town of Strathcona from 1899-1907 and the City of Strathcona from 1907-1912. The fonds consists of materials created by the secretary treasurer of Strathcona, George F. Downes (1899-1906), H. G. Clarke (1906-1910) and Charles Cox (1910-1912). The fonds consists of these series: 1. Voters lists (1899-1907) The series consists of complete voters lists for the period. 2. Correspondence (1899-1912) The series consists of in-coming and out-going correspondence relating to town and city matters. 3. Financial (1899-1912) The series consists of ledgers, receipts, water rate books and other materials related to the financial administration of the Town and City of Strathcona.
