Lounsbury and Co. Limited Purchase Agreement

Item is a purchase agreement between John Alward and Lounsbury and Co. Limited, dated August 10 1936. It is for one Model 1091 Chevrolet Deluxe Coach equipped with license for $1082.75 after receiving a trade in on a 1930 Dodge Sedan.
This fonds consists almost entirely of traffic department shipping receipts and waybills from the railway station at Saint John, 1881-1901. There is also a photocopy of the Intercolonial and Prince Edward Island Railway: Rules, Regulations and Rates of Pay, 1913. A ledger from the Canadian Eastern Railway contains a copy of the waybills for goods sent from various stations between Fredericton and the Miramichi. It records the station, sender, consignee and the nature of the goods, 1902-1904. An Intercolonial Railway log book records the arrival of trains at Marysville station, giving the number of the train, its direction, time of arrival and name of the conductor from 1915-1916. There are also two Sussex station books from 1904-1909. There is also a folder of routine administrative correspondence.

This collection contains photocopies of materials relating to the proposed construction of the Halifax to Quebec railway: It includes correspondence relating to the proposed railway, including a letter to the Right Honourable Lord Monteagle from Richard Brown, Bart. dated 15 August 1853; Crown revenues, North America, 1830-1833; and extracts from the "Morning Post," dated 11 August 1853.

This fonds documents the timber trading activities of the ship "Waterloo" as transacted by its owners John Ward & Sons, of Saint John and their agents, between 1821 and 1826. It consists of a disbursment book that records the purchase of provisons and the hiring of labour for 10 timber voyages. Items and services purchased include foodstuffs, household supplies, insurance, rum, paint, oil, medical attendances, clothing, cartage, surveying, hauling and custom duties. For the most part, the names of the captains and seamen receiving wages, the amounts paid, and the type of labour performed are recorded. Occasionally expenses paid on the seamen's behalf, such as washing, tobacco, and rum are noted. Statements of sales of timber and cargo at Liverpool, statements of profit and loss, and accounts of cargos are also included.
A number of newspaper clippings, [ca. 1885], on a variety of subjects, such as shipping, steamboats, railways, bridges, politics, crime, and charitable organizations, relating primarily to the city of Saint John, were found tucked between the pages of the disbursement book. This material is also included with the fonds.

The fonds consists of newspaper articles on John Ferry and several documents related to Carney Ferry's work as a CNR agent. The bulk of the fonds documents William Dow Ferry's accomplishments, from his sixth grade report card to law school transcripts, university diplomas and certificates of appointment. Most photos are formal shots of William Ferry but one series relates to his military service, including photographs of soldiers in Whitehorse ca. 1940.

The fonds consists of correspondence sent and received by W.A. Wood with Henry MacLeod and J.M. Trutch while directing work on the B.C. Section of the Canadian Pacific Rail line.

The fonds consists of material relating to the Thompson family who were one of the original families in West Vancouver. A portion of the material also pertains to the West Vancouver Ferry Company, the West Vancouver Municipal Transportation Department, and the Pacific Great Eastern railway.
