Vancouver Ballet Society Library and Archives
The Vancouver Ballet Society was formed in 1946 as a non-profit charitable organization to promote ballet and contemporary dance in British Columbia through education, encouragement, and assistance.
The aim of the VBS Library and Archives is to acquire, preserve, and make available to researchers the records of BC's dance heritage. The holdings of the Society include photographs, programs, video recordings and clippings. The records cover dance rehearsals, performances, and other events from 1969 through 1985. The videotape collection consists of interviews with visiting critics and guest stars, ballet seminars, master classes, local, and other performances. The clippings consist of mounted newspaper and periodical articles received from the numerous friends of the society.
